2006 Oakhaven Permaculture Workshops

Currently Oakhaven has no workshops on offer for 2007. We will be teaching a part of a Permaculture Design course in Boulder in September. (See http://www.sustainableboulder.org/ for more information.)

What you see here -- for your reference -- are the workshops that we offered in 2006

The number of students in each Workshop will be limited to just 20. (Please register early!) And we need to have at least six students, so talk with your friends!

These workshops are co-sponsored with the Fort Lewis College Environmental Center, 1000 Rim Drive, Durango, Colorado.

Workshop Taught by Durango ZERI Practioners: Christie Berven, Kris Holstrom & Tom Riesing
Saturday, April 29th, 2006,
from 8:30 am to 1:00pm
at Delta-Montrose Electric Association, 11925 6300 Road, North of Montrose

Introduction to ZERI

"Don't expect the Earth to produce more. Expect humans to do more with what the Earth
produces. This is the second Green revolution."

 Gunter Pauli

Zero Emissions Research & Initiatives (ZERI) is a global network of creative minds seeking solutions to sustainability challenges. The common vision shared by the Members of the ZERI family is to view waste as resource and to seek solutions using nature's design principles as inspiration.

If you are seeking real world examples of creative, practical, and proven solutions to some of our common environmental and economic problems, then you need to attend this workshop. An "Introduction to ZERI" will provide you with a new way of thinking and viewing the world and a fresh positive perspective on how we can turn our common problems into potential opportunities for value-added and job creation.

You will explore the concept of systems thinking and see how thinking in systems can shift us from a consciousness of scarcity to one of abundance. To obtain appropriate solutions it is important to know how to ask the right questions and in this workshop you will begin learning the ZERI process of asking the right questions.

The workshop will cover the following:

 - What is ZERI?                          - Waste or Resource?                     - An Introduction to Systems Thinking

 - The Science of ZERI                  - ZERI Case Study                          - ZERI Education

 - Applying ZERI Locally

The cost is $35 for early registrants ($15 for Students with ID) or $40 at the door ($20 for Students with ID)
Participation in this workshop will be limited to the first 25 people who register.
People can register at the door only if space is available.
