Map: How to get to Oakhaven

Oakhaven is located North of US Hwy 160 in LaPlata Canyon.

From Durango -- the intersection of US Hwy 550 & US Hwy 160 by the DoubleTree Hotel --  drive West on US Hwy 160 10.7 miles -- past the Hesperus Post Office and Colorado 140 which will be on your left -- and turn right onto CR 124 just past the Kennebec Cafe. (This turn is between mile marker 73 -- which is just after you cross the top of Hesperus Hill -- and mile marker 72 -- which is about 1/4 past CR 124.)

From Mancos, drive East on US Hwy 160 about15 miles. Go about 1/4 mile past the Ski Hesperus area (which will be on your right) and turn left onto CR 124 just before the Kennebec Cafe.

From Kennebec Cafe, drive 4.2 miles (actually 4.179 miles) to 4179 CR 124. At about 4.1 miles you will come into a little dip with houses on both sides. Just past that on the left you will see two Ponderosa Pines right next to the road. Immediately after the pines is the Oakhaven driveway. There you will see white pipe gates and an Oakhaven sign set back behind the gates. There is also a wooden plaque and a large, black mailbox both with the numbers '4179'.

If you come to the little town of Mayday, you have gone too far!
